DID YOU KNOW?

Scouting in the Viking Council celebrated it's 95th Anniversary in 2005 and has been an important part of the community as it has grown over the years.  On July 1, 2005, the Viking and Indianhead Councils merged to form today's Northern Star Council, one of the largest in the country.

The history is rich and represents the life efforts of literally thousands of individuals and organizations.

This accounting is based on the works of Michael F. Miler, a previous Activities Director for the Viking Council in the 1970's.   It was published in the Hennepin County Historical Society magazine in 1976.

The ScoutingBSA.org web site is a legacy site of the Viking Council BSA, now Northern Star Council.
This site was the original council site and was active from 1996 to 2002 and run by volunteers.  As the web became more important to Scouting, the council took over with paid staff.  This site is no longer maintained but is an interesting snapshot of an early Scouting web site.    You can share your comments
