Here is an working example of a Troop Election Process as developed by Troop 524 of the Viking Council TROOP 524 Youth Election Process (as voted on and approved by the PLC on 11/19/99) I. TROOP ELECTIONS A. TROOP NOMINATIONS To run for an elected office, each individual must sign up prior to the night the elections will be held. Nomination sheets will be available for at least two meetings prior. Candidates may be nominated by someone else, but they must sign the nomination sheet to indicate the acceptance of the nomination. Individuals may nominate themselves. B. TROOP ELECTION PROCESS Offices will be elected in the following order: Senior Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leaders, Librarian, Historian, and Scribe. (Note that later in the meeting the patrols will meet to elect their officers.) The process will be run by the election committee, which is made up of older boys from the troop who are not running for any office, under the direction of the Scoutmaster. The following steps are followed for each office:
C. TROOP POSITION REQUIREMENTS/LIMITS There is a maximum of a two term limit for the five elected positions, these terms may or may not be consecutive. Additional requirements/limits are as follows: 1. Senior Patrol Leader
2. Assistant Senior Patrol Leader
II. PATROL ELECTIONS The following is the recommended patrol election process. Any deviation from this process must be approved by the Patrol Advisor or Scoutmaster. A.
