Wow! What a
District Dinner! More than 170 people attended the 3 Rivers District Dinner
at Brook Hall in Blaine. A special part of the evening was watching Mrs.
Harold Goodman present her husband’s the Eagle Medal and recognition
paperwork earned in 1930 to Randy Miller of the North Star Scouting Museum.
Congratulations go to all of the great leaders in our district who make
Scouting a great program for area youth. Eight of the 3 Rivers District
Eagle Class of 2001 were congratulated on their achievements at the dinner.
Mel Aanerud, Mark Thiel, Norm Motter, and Martin Manion were
recognized for their work in the District with the District Award of Merit. Mark
Spohn and Jim Hirschman received the 2001 Cubmaster and
Scoutmaster of the Year Awards respectively. Sharon Sandberg was
honored for her efforts as District Advancement chairperson with the award
of a James E. West Fellowship. Sharon then presented the Richard Silverstein
award to Troop 631 . District Commissioners Curt Brazier and Ron Hackett
recognized Unit Commissioners Sheri Gohl, Deb Bode, Curt Brazier and
Keith Rassmussen with The Salt Of The Earth Award and Unit Commissioner Randy
Kennedy as The Rookie Of The Year.
Special thanks to all who contributed pictures for the slide show, and to Robin Passer and Laura Beth Giese for their efforts in decorating the hall. Venture Crew 406 did a great job with the opening and closing flag ceremonies.
