Requirements
The Scouters Key is awarded for several different areas of achievement
and is for more than just Scoutmasters. The following are the areas
of award and their requirements:

- Complete at least 3 years of registered tenure as a Scoutmaster
within a 5-year period
Performance:
- Earn the Boy Scout Troop National Quality Unit Award (2 times)
Training Committee Action
- The leadership training committee has reviewed this application and
accepts the certifications as to the candidate's meeting the required standards. The
Scoutmaster's Key is approved.
Complete training as outlined by the local council, including
earning the Commissioner's Key. Exploring service team members complete training as
outlined by the local council.

VARSITY
KEY
Training
- Complete Varsity Scout Fast Start Training.
- Complete Three-part-Varsity Scout Leader Fundamentals training:
- Part I - What Varsity Scouting Is
- Part II - Varsity Scout Program
- Part III - Varsity Scouting and the Outdoors
- Conduct youth leader introduction to leadership training twice.
- Participate twice in a team leader seminar.
- Participate in one training course beyond Varsity Scout Leader
Fundamentals (local council or national level experience).
- Earn the Varsity Scout Leader Training Award.
- Attend at least six Varsity Scout Leader Huddles during each year
for three years.
Tenure
Complete at least three years of tenure registered as a Varsity Scout
Coach within a 5 year period.
Performance
At least twice during the three-year period, serve as Coach of a
Varsity Scout team that earns the National Quality Unit Award.
VARSITY SCOUT LEADER LETTER
Training
- Complete Varsity Scout Leader Fast Start training.
- Complete Varsity Scout Leader Fundamentals training.
Tenure
Complete a minimum of six months as a registered Varsity Scout leader.
Huddle Attendance
Attend a minimum of six Varsity Scout Leader Huddles.

VENTURING KEY
- Complete three years of registered tenure as a Crew Advisor in a 5
year period.
- Earn the Venturing Crew National Quality Unit award 2 times.
- Have a parent's night each year.
- Complete Venturing Fast Start.
- Complete Venturing Leader Basic Training
- Conduct Crew officer's seminars in each of your three years as
Advisor.
- Conduct at least one Venturing Leadership Skills course for your
crew.
- Earn the Venturing Leader Training Award.
- Attend at least (4) Venturing Roundtables or VOA meetings each year.
Must be certified by a district training committee member.

Training
- Complete Adult Venturing Leader Basic training,
No. 33491B.
- Complete Sea Scouting leader's specialized
training.
- Complete a boating safety course offered by the
US Coast Guard Auxiliary, US Power Squadron, or similar organization.
Tenure
Complete three years of registered tenure as a Skipper within a
five-year period.
Performance
At least twice during the three-year period serve as the Skipper of a
ship earning the National Quality Unit Award or its equivalent.

Orientation
- Review with the roundtable commissioner orientation material in the
current Cub Scout Roundtable Planning Guide, No. 34249, or Boy Scout
Roundtable Planning Guide, No. 34253; or Varsity Scout Huddle Guide,
No. 7829.
- Review all material in the current Cub Scout Program Helps, Woods
Wisdom, or Varsity Scout Game Plan.
Basic Training
- Complete basic training for Cub Scout or Boy Scout roundtable
commissioners
Tenure
Complete 2 years as a registered roundtable/huddle staff member.
Performance
- Participate in six roundtable/huddle staff meetings.
- Actively assist in six roundtables/huddles.
- Conduct a successful roundtable/huddle attendance promotion project.
- Develop and exhibit a display related to the theme at one roundtable
or huddle.
- Conduct an opening activity and an opening ceremony.
- Conduct or be responsible for a major project, presentation, or
demonstration at one roundtable or huddle.

DISTRICT
COMMITTEE MEMBER'S KEY
Training
- Review The District, No. 33079, and the Highlight book for your
position. Discuss the role of the district and your position with your
committee chairman or district executive.
- Complete the District Committee Training Workshop.
Tenure
Complete three years as a district committee member within a 5-year
period.
Performance
- Your district must earn the Quality District Award at least once
within a 3-year period.
- Take part actively in six district committee meetings.
- Help give leadership to eight projects of your operating committee
or other projects as approved by your district executive (organizing a
unit, running a training course, planning a camporee event, completing
an SME assignment, etc.).
